The "Being Sustainable Tourism" program is an initiative by Turismo do Porto e Norte de Portugal that aims at certifying the region as a Sustainable Destination, aligning with the principles of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).

This movement invites businesses in the sector to commit to specific actions, organized under four fundamental pillars of sustainability:

• Be a Sustainable and Socially Responsible Business;
• Support and Promote the Economic Sustainability of the Destination;
• Support and Promote the Cultural Sustainability of the Destination;
• Support and Promote the Environmental Sustainability of the Destination.

By signing the "Being Sustainable Tourism" manifesto, businesses gain access to incentives, such as: participation in international promotion activities; opportunities to join networking platforms; priority access to business opportunities.

This initiative reinforces the collective commitment to transforming Porto and Northern Portugal into a model of responsible and sustainable tourism.
